Interdisciplinary application of nonlinear time series methods

چکیده
This paper reports on the application to field measurements of time series methods developed on the basis of the theory of deterministic chaos. The major difficulties are pointed out that arise when the data cannot be assumed to be purely deterministic and the potential that remains in this situation is discussed. For signals with weakly nonlinear structure, the presence of nonlinearity in a general sense has to be inferred statistically. The paper reviews the relevant methods and discusses the implications for deterministic modeling. Most field measurements yield nonstationary time series, which poses a severe problem for their analysis. Recent progress in the detection and understanding of nonstationarity is reported. If a clear signature of approximate determinism is found, the notions of phase space, attractors, invariant manifolds, etc., provide a convenient framework for time series analysis. Although the results have to be interpreted with great care, superior performance can be achieved for typical signal processing tasks. In particular, prediction and filtering of signals are discussed, as well as the classification of system states by means of time series recordings. ( 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. Functional-Coefficient Autoregressive Model and its Application for Prediction of the Iranian Heavy Crude Oil Price
Time series and their methods of analysis are important subjects in statistics. Most of time series have a linear behavior and can be modelled by linear ARIMA models. However, some of realized time series have a nonlinear behavior and for modelling them one needs nonlinear models. For this, many good parametric nonlinear models such as bilinear model, exponential autoregressive model, threshold...
متن کاملNonlinear Analysis of a Power Amplifier inc C Band and Load Pull Technique Calculation USING VOLTERRA SERIES
In recent years, nonlinear circuit analysis techniques have been extensively investigated. One of the most important reasons is the application development of solid-state devices at microwave frequencies. Different methods have been used to analysis large signal behavior of these devices. In this paper load-pull curves (one of design requirement) are obtained using Volterra series. The main adv...

In this paper statistical and time series models are used for determining the random drift of a dynamically Tuned Gyroscope (DTG). This drift is compensated with optimal predictive transfer function. Also nonlinear neural-network and fuzzy-neural models are investigated for prediction and compensation of the random drift. Finally the different models are compared together and their advantages a...
متن کاملWhich Methodology is Better for Combining Linear and Nonlinear Models for Time Series Forecasting?
Both theoretical and empirical findings have suggested that combining different models can be an effective way to improve the predictive performance of each individual model. It is especially occurred when the models in the ensemble are quite different. Hybrid techniques that decompose a time series into its linear and nonlinear components are one of the most important kinds of the hybrid model...
متن کاملAn application of differential transform method for solving nonlinear optimal control problems
In this paper, we present a capable algorithm for solving a class of nonlinear optimal control problems (OCP's). The approach rest mainly on the differential transform method (DTM) which is one of the approximate methods. The DTM is a powerful and efficient technique for finding solutions of nonlinear equations without the need of a linearization process. Utilizing this approach, the optimal co...
